Mouth breathers at 7-eleven

This morning I went to the 7-eleven to get coffee like I do every day, the store was mostly empty apart from a couple of probably Hispanic gentlemen getting their coffee as well. A few minutes after I walked in, this short, little man, obvious smoker, probably a drug addict at some point in his life, walked into the store and began to get his coffee. The two Hispanic men were talking to one another in their native language, Spanish, and this little man decides to say to them “Speak English. Speak English it’s fuckin’ rude.” I began fuming but pursed my lips and didn’t say anything.

It’s not rude that their speaking their native language, it’s rude that you are telling them to speak yours. There is no national language here in America and just because you don’t understand them doesn’t make it rude. Do you think the Native American’s thought it was rude that when we came here we were speaking English in front of them?

I finished putting together my “coffee” (it’s mostly cappuccino and vanilla flavor with a splash of coffee, don’t judge) and walked up to the cash register. I paid with a card even though coffee was the only thing I bought and this disgusting little man walked up behind me, and then to the side of me, not where the other cash register was located I might add. Then after I typed my code in said to me “You know the bank gets like 40 cents every time you use your card.” Dude. Let me tell you how much I don’t give a shit about your two cents, let alone the banks 40 cents. I’m on my way to work and you’re on my last nerve. So I said to him, “You know, I really don’t give a shit.” And walked off to my car. Of course, Mr. Here’s-my-unsolicited-two-cents said to me as I was walking out “It drives the prices up for everyone!” Now I’m not sure if that’s true, and I wouldn’t be shocked if it was, but I’m less inclined to listen to someone who was just a gigantic dick head to a couple of people he doesn’t even know.

I hate how I always come up with the best comebacks and retorts after the fact. I also wish I would have said something to that ass hat when he was being rude to those guys who were also probably on their way to work and weren’t doing anything to hurt this guy.

This man is what is wrong with America. He’s part of the reason that the rest of the world thinks of us as arrogant ass holes. If he was in Spain would he get mad that people were speaking Spanish? Do you think that most of the world would be mad if you were speaking English in a non-English speaking country? I’m sure some would but I’m sure that most wouldn’t act like this blowhard.

Anyways. Rant over. Time for GIS homework.
